Four Seasons - Raquel Larkins
Four Seasons by SA artist Raquel Larkins - Finalist in the 2024 Heysen Prize for Landscape.
My name is Raquel Larkins, I am a proud Kokatha,Dieri,Arabana and Narungga woman. This artwork holds four pieces of paper bark to symbolise our four seasons. The artwork depicts creeks and creek beds, water holes and artesian mound and springs. I wanted to symbolise how all of these things are etched into our landscape. I painted it in a way that represents the earths fingerprint like the inside of a tree trunk and the footprint of our underground natural springs. One of the most valuable things we can do to care for country is to protect our natural waters.
Materials: Acrylic paint on canvas with clay, bark and raffia
