Home by SA artist Kim Allen  - Finalist in the 2024 Heysen Prize for Landscape.

Being an artist situated in the Adelaide Hills there are always opportunities to find great scenery to paint, draw or photograph. I like to use oils because its blendability and juicy textures and sheen. My painting called Home was inspired by what I see everyday as I drive through the hills, the changing sky and vast landscapes. I hope to convey the same feeling I have of connection to land and the deep desire to preserve and increase wilderness. 

Kim Allen is an aspiring amateur painter balancing several caring roles while also maintaining a daily art practice. Part of being a carer Kim helps others find their own inner artist. Finding a way to express through art what cannot be sometimes talked about is healing and sometimes profound.
