Native Twig Spoons - Regine Schwarzer
Native Twig Spoons by SA artist Regine Schwarzer - Finalist in the 2024 Heysen Prize for Landscape.
These works are inspired by my daily bushwalks across Peramangk country – where I live and practice. Native flora – twigs, leaves and seedpods are emphasised, drawing attention to their intricate shapes, textures and diversity. Callistemon, melaleuca, gum nuts, leptospermum, specimens carefully selected, encapsulated in brass, inviting to touch, feel and explore. Utilitarian objects provide a reminder of the significance, fragility and preciousness of our ecosystem and landscape.
