Unfinished Puzzles and a Walking Cherry Blossom - Dan Tomkins
Unfinished Puzzles and a Walking Cherry Blossom by SA artist Dan Tomkins - Finalist in the 2024 Heysen Prize for Landscape.
As the season breaks, with unfinished jigsaw puzzles occupying the winter months, the bursting colour of the waking cherry blossom signifies the arrival of warmer air and new growth as we ourselves awaken to the excitement of the garden exploding with new life. The moment is depicted in this landscape painting, through layers of Payne’s grey setting the scene for the glowing white and magenta of new flowers.
