Hahndorf Academy is building a new community space for creative workshops and events. We’ve almost finished construction but we need your support for the final building works and furnishings to open Bukatila Studio to the public!

You can connect people to the arts and give them a sense of belonging in a space that you helped create! Bukatila Studio will be a welcoming place where you can learn new skills and meet new people. It’s a flexible activity space to fulfil community demand for art workshops and cultural events. We want a creative vibe that is fun and inviting to everyone. Tax deductible donations of $2 or more will provide us a space to build community connections through meaningful experiences. It will help us be financially sustainable as a not-for-profit organisation and provide employment for artists. So far we’ve substantially completed construction including utility connections thanks to support from the Hahndorf District Lions and International Lions, Ed Douglas, Stronger Communities program and architect Lothar Brasse. But we still need to install windows, walls, fixtures, and furnishings before we can use the new space. We’re on the home stretch - help us cross the finish line!

Bukatila Studio will help us grow as a not-for-profit cultural centre in regional South Australia that relies on self-generated income. With over 150,000 visitors each year, we want to expand our public program to employ more artists and engage more participants in workshops and events. We’ve had great success delivering school holiday, festivals and wellness programs, as well as workshops for school-aged children, First Nations and vulnerable groups across our region. Your support will give us the space to expand our services with creative workshops, regular courses, free community celebrations, as well as private events. We are also planning exciting new, inclusive activities in partnership with youth, mental health, disability support and aged care services.

Donations will be used to install windows, walls, fixtures and furnishings, including labour and materials. Your help will expand our 166 year old heritage building with an activity space that will serve our community into the future!
